A day of remembering
Hot, sticky, dusty
Crowds forming
Curiosity – looking
Three men
Dirty, blood-stained
Waling the narrow dirt public road
Each man carrying a cross upon their back
Slow moving. Too crowded.
One of the men stumbles to the ground
The burden is so heavy
He cannot get up
A soldier scouts the crowd
Roughly grasps a man
Pulling him to pick up the cross
Carrying it for the man on the ground
The man on the ground
Blood-stain on his face and body
Looks up in gratefulness and love
Stumbles next to the man carrying his cross up the hill
Here is the place called The Skull
Here is where these me will be crucified
Here is where two thieves hang
Here is where the Son of God dies
A day to remember
The Sacrifice of Love
“For here is the way God loved the world
He gave his only unique Son as a gift.
So now everyone who believes in him
Will never perish but experience everlasting life.
God did not send his Son into the world
To judge and condemn the world,
But to be its Savior and rescue it!”
John 3:16 & 17 (The Passion Translation)
