I Am that I Am
In his conversation with God in Exodus 3, Moses asked a question after God told him to bring the people out of Egypt and that they would worship God on this mountain.
Exodus 3:13-14 New International Version
13 “Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”
14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites. ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
The Hebrew meaning of ‘ehye aser ehye’ I am who I am, or “I will become what I choose to become.”
There are several other meanings as well:
“I am what I am,” “I will be what I will be,” “I create what(ever) I create,” or “I am the Existing One.”
